We are committed to delivering craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

Whether restoring the charm of a historic home or building a modern renovation, we believe in quality work, clear communication, and respect for your home and vision.

Who we are…

At York Star Builders, craftsmanship runs deep…passed down through generations. Owner and lead contractor, Tim Nielson has been building, renovating, and restoring homes since 2008. He learned the trade firsthand from his father, Wade, a master carpenter with over 30 years of experience, whose attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship shaped Tim’s own approach to building.

Tim’s foundation is built on a deep respect for the craft and the value of hard, honest work.

Over the years, Tim has worked on some of the most notable historic homes in Salem and Marblehead, Massachusetts; including the Pickering House, one of the oldest homes in the United States. His work preserves the character and integrity of these timeless structures while updating them for modern living.

In 2020, Tim launched Star Builders, bringing his craftsmanship and trusted reputation to homeowners across the North Shore. Now based in York, Maine, Tim continues his family’s legacy of building with integrity, specializing in kitchen and bathroom remodels, decks, outdoor living spaces, and historic home restorations.

When he’s not on the job site, you’ll find Tim fishing off the Maine coast, ATVing in the woods, planning his next woodworking project, or hanging out with his family and friends.
